Rate: This is a Thousand Trails Campground and all rules and discounts apply. One note: When you reserve, only the Elite campsites have sewer. There is a honey wagon that runs each week for $15.00.

Lot: This is a large sized park. The lots are gravel based and level. Almost all lots are back-in. The park is maintained adequately. There are ample mature trees.

Amenities: Depends on getting a Standard (30 Amp Elect & Water), Premium (50 Amp Elect & Water), or Elite (50 Amp Elect, Water, & Sewer), TV – No; Internet – Extra Charge

Other Conveniences: Showers, Bathrooms, Laundry, Playground for Kids, Swimming Pool, Tennis Court, Putt-Putt Golf, Hiking and Biking Trails. A Wal-Mart is 20-30 min away, depending on the draw bridge being up or down.
Other Inconveniences: No Fenced in Dog Walk Area

Positives: The park is near the Sturgeon Bay downtown area with restaurants and shopping available. The location, though, is the largest positive of all. The campground located in Door County is excellent for summer activities: boating on Lake Michigan, biking and hiking trails, eating, antiquing, cheese, plus everything cherries. Door County is Wisconsin’s premier location for cherry production. This is a wonderful place to visit in the summer.

Negatives: Although this is a large park, two thirds to three fourths of the sites are taken by seasonal campers. This is not unusual for northern campgrounds. Having that yearly income keeps the campground afloat. The problem is that those sites are taken all year, so if you are coming in for a temporary stay, you need to make a reservation well in advance to ensure you can get in.

Final Note: This park is set to accommodate seasonal campers. You will find folks especially on the weekends gathered around a fire swapping stories. I joined a few of their campfires, they are very curious about full timers, and traveling around the country. Join in; they are a great bunch with whom to converse. For temporary campers, plan to camp here for at least a week to see Door County and all it offers.
Sounds like a future visit for us! We enjoy Michigan every summer. This sounds similar – but different. Thanks for your post, and enjoy the day!
